"The two-year programme is for those who are open to a crosscultural experience, are enthusias tic and passionate individuals committed to positively impacting the sport industry through their leadership, and are willing to commit to a course that will test, challenge and hone their existing understanding of how the sport industry is now and what it will become," says Mike Ewing, pro-vice-chancellor, faculty of business and law, Deakin University.

The faculty comprises full-time academics as well as industry professionals.
"Students put into practice what they have learnt in the classroom," adds Ewing.
Career options
Participants find work experience placements in various organisations, such as the Australian Weightlifting Federation, Surf Life Saving Australia and the Victorian Institute of Sport and Bicycle Victoria, to name a few, he adds. On completing the programme, they may look for work in schools, state and local government, sporting goods companies, research institutes and allied health practices that employ exercise scientists and exercise physiologists.These experiences provide inroads into the industry, he concludes.

The curriculum
The curriculum covers areas such as design technology (sports technology), exercise and sport science, sport development, sport management and health sciences. It includes exercise science, nutrition, physical activity and health, psychology, sport coaching and clinical exercise physiology.
